Title:
TREATMENT OF CARBON FIBER REINFORCED CARBON COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR IMPARTING OXIDATION RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3548605
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To treat a C/C composite material so that superior oxidation resistance is exhibited in an oxidizing atmosphere at a high temp. without reducing the material strength.
CONSTITUTION: In a 1st coating process, alcohol is added to silicon alkoxide and a liq. thermosetting resin, they are uniformly mixed and hydrolyzed to prepare a soln. of an org. precursor of SiC and this soln. is impregnated into the surface of a C/C composite material and heat-treated in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to form an SiC coating film by a conversion method. In a 2nd coating process, a ceramic coating film is formed by vapor deposition by a CVD method or a pulsating CVI method. In a 3rd coating process, a soln. of a precursor of glass prepd. by an alkoxide method is impregnated and heat- treated to form a glassy coating film.
