PURPOSE: To provide a method for treating cellulose fibers, capable of preventing a trouble on a spinning process by the addition of a small amount of an oiling agent, by imparting a spinning oil emulsion containing a lower fatty acid to scoured cellulose fibers to catch metal ions contained in the fibers with the fatty acid and remove the metal ions as scum to the outside of the system.
CONSTITUTION: This method for treating cellulose fibers comprises adding a lower fatty acid or its derivative (for example, maleic acid or fumaric acid) to a circulated spinning oil emulsion in an amount of 0.1-10 wt. % to catch a metal ion (for example, Zn ion or Ca ion) adsorbed to the cellulose fibers as the lower fatty acid metal salt and separate and remove the product as scum to the outside of the system, in a process for supplying the spinning oil to the scoured cellulose fibers. Since the metal ion can be removed as the scum, the oiling agent is consumed in a reduced amount, can exhibits a good spinning effect in a small amount, and can be circulated for a long time.
