Abstract:
PURPOSE: To separate and recover prescribed pure dichloropentafluoropropane by continuous distillation by selectively fluorinating chloroform in a mixture to a low b.p. product.
CONSTITUTION: Chloroform in a mixture of dichloropentafluoropropane with chloroform is selectively fluorinated to low b.p. dichloromonofluoromethane, this dichloromonofluoromethane is separated by distillation and pure dichloropentafluoropropane is recovered. This method includes the separation of an azeotropic mixture.
