To provide a method for treating hair, making it possible to impart flexibility and slipperiness to damaged hair without giving stickiness to the hair, enhance the resistance of the hair to peripheral water, and impart a hair tip expansion-preventing effect to the hair.
This method for treating hair comprises treating the hair with a shampoo containing sodium polyoxyethylene lauryl ether sulfate and sodium polyoxyethylene lauryl ether acetate, and then treating the hair with a hair- protecting agent containing an alkyltrimethylammonium chloride, cetanol and squalane emulsion. The sodium polyoxyethylene lauryl ether sulfate, the sodium polyoxyethylene lauryl ether acetate, the alkyltrimethylammonium chloride, and the cetanol are preferably contained in amounts of 2 to 11 wt.%, 0.1 to 5 wt.%, 0.1 to 5 wt.%, and 3 to 10 wt.%, respectively. The content of the squalane emulsion is preferably contained in an amount of 0.02 to 1 wt.% as squalane.
