Title:
TREATMENT OF HEAVY METAL-CONTAINING WASTE WATER BY SULFURIC ACID REDUCING BACTERIA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62193697
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove heavy metallic ions in waste water by making the toxicity of hydrogen sulfide to sulfuric acid reducing bacteria pollution-free as a metallic sulfide, adsorbing and enriching the sulfuric acid reducing bacteria to such metallic sulfide and stopping a specified amt. of the bacteria-adsorbed sulfide in the system.

CONSTITUTION: The sulfuric acid reducing bacteria, nutritive salts necessary for growing the reducing bacteria and the heavy metal-contg. waste water are anaerobically mixed and the hydrogen sulfide formed by the effect of said reducing bacteria is settled in the form of the sulfide of the heavy metals contained in said water mixture. Said sulfide precipitate is utilized as the adsorptive carrier for the sulfuric acid reducing bacteria in the system and on the other hand, the concn. of the reducing bacteria in the system is increased by the sulfide precipitate increased by the effect of the sulfuric acid reducing bacteria and the sulfuric acid reducing bacteria likewise propagated. As a result, the heavy metallic ions in the waste water are efficiently removed or recovered in the form of the sulfide precipitate.
