PURPOSE: To obtain a method and device for treating laboratory waste by which a container containing dangerous and noxious laboratory waste or the like is subjected to an explosion treatment in a submerged medium.

CONSTITUTION: An automatic treatment device comprises a water basin 5 filled with water, means for automatic conveyance 3, a device for automatic submersion of baskets 2, 2', 2" carrying waste container and an explosion device (explosive fuses and detonators). These devices are integrated into a whole complex comprising an area 1 for the loading of the containers in the baskets 2, 2', 2", a room 6 for the storage of explosive fuses and a room 7 for the storage of the detonators having safety rooms 8, 9 and a system 12 for recovery of the broken containers. Thereby treatment of the wastes from laboratories and chemical facilities can be safely executed.
