Abstract:

To provide a treatment method for engine exhaust gas, capable of efficiently reduction-removing a NOx component included in the engine exhaust gas with a catalyst and concurrently oxidizing a carbon component such as PM which is one of harmful components in the exhaust gas.

This treatment method for the engine exhaust gas includes a CO forming process of converting part of the exhaust gas component into an oxidizer component by a gas exciting means in a forward flow in the exhaust gas flow direction from an engine into the oxidizer component and of generating carbon monoxide by oxidizing a carbon component in the exhaust gas with the oxidizer component; and a denitration process of reducing a NOx component in the exhaust gas by action of reduction of the carbon monoxide on a denitration catalyst in a backward flow in the exhaust gas flow direction. In addition, the treatment apparatus for the exhaust gas discharged from the engine includes the gas exciting means and the denitration process.
