Abstract:

To provide clean steam effectively usable as process steam or the like without requiring chemicals by using primary characteristics of styrene monomer manufacturing device boiler feed water, and efficiently removing carbonate components and ammonium components in the boiler feed water.

In the method, the styrene monomer manufacturing device boiler feed water is treated for usage as a steam generating source. The styrene monomer manufacturing device boiler feed water separated from a dehydrogenation reaction product of ethylene benzene is subjected to RO membrane separation at pH 7-10, almost all of the carbonate components in the boiler feed water are removed as HCO3-, the ammonium components partially ionized as NH4+ are removed, RO membrane permeated water is subjected to deaeration by a deaeration membrane, and the deaerated water is heated by heat exchange with the dehydrogenation reaction product to provided the high temperature high pressure steam. The steam is effectively used in other plants such as a BTX separation and manufacture plant.
