To provide a treatment method for organic sludge which facilitates concentration of the organic sludge and is capable of concentrating the sludge at a low cost, efficiently effecting a hydrothermal reaction, preventing the closure and wear of an equipment, depositing hazardous materials as solids and preventing elution of the hazardous material to treated water.
The organic sludge is introduced into a flocculation basin l and is subjected to flocculation treatment by adding an inorganic flocculating agent of an amount below 50% of SS as an oxidizing agent. The thick sludge concentrated to a concentration of 5 to 15 wt.% by a concentrator 2 is introduced into a hydrothermal reactor 4 where the oxidizing agent is supplied from an oxidizing agent vessel 5 to the sludge and the hydrothermal reaction is effected in a supercritical or subcritical state. The solids are separated in a solid-liquid separator 6 and gas-liquid separation is effected in a gas-liquid separator 7.
