Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the removal of a predetermined part of a photoreceptor coating film without damaging a photoreceptor body by applying a high energy irradiation source on a coating film part of the photoreceptor in the presence of a liquid medium.

CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor drum 2 includes a rigid cylindrical base body 4 and has an outside coating film 6 formed on the whole base body 4. In order to remove at least a part of the coating film 6, the high energy irradiation source is applied on the coating film 6 in the presence of the liquid medium. As the high energy irradiation source, a laser beam, ultrasonic wave energy or a high intensity heat source is preferable. As the liquid medium, a gas jet, a liquid jet or a liquid medium is preferable. The drum 2 rotates around an axis 8 during the removal of the coating film 6. As the drum 2 rotates, the predetermined part of the coating film 6 is irradiated with a laser beam 10. During a laser treatment, a coaxial liquid jet is supplied around the laser beam 10 to remove a molten coating film substance from the photoreceptor.
