Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a drug recipe containing a pentamidine analogous compd. containing a novel compd. and used in the treatment and prevention of pneumocystis carinii pneumonia and the treatment of leishmaniasis, flagellosis and a malaria disease.
CONSTITUTION: A drug recipe contains a compd. represented by the formula [wherein R1 is H, or two groups R1 on the same amidine group are combined to form (CH2)m ((m) is 2-4), R2 is H, OCH3, NO2 or NH2, R3 is H CH3 or CH2CH3, (n) is 2-5, X is O, N or S but, when both of R1 and R2 are H and X is 0, (n) is not 5]. This compd. is hiqh in toxity and the dose amt. thereof is restricted to a low level of up to 10 mg/kg and, typically, the dose amt. of 0.5-5 mg/kg (as a free base) is employed.
