Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for treatment of a reaction mixture obtained from the oxidation process of cyclohexane to adipic acid.
SOLUTION: This process relates to the treatment of a reaction mixture obtained from direct oxidation of cyclohexane to adipic acid with oxygen in the presence of a catalyst in an organic solvent and comprises a volatile components-distilling step in which a volatile mixture containing unconverted cyclohexane, an organic solvent, cyclohexanone, cyclohexanol cyclohexyl esters, lactones and water is distilled, an adipic acid-separating (concentrating) step in which a fraction containing the formed dibasic acids and the remaining catalyst is separated (concentrated) by distillation, and a crystallization step in which water is added to the remaining (concentrated) aqueous solution to prepare a solution suitable for crystallization, and adipic is crystallized out from the suitable aqueous solution.
