Title:
TREATMENT OF SEMISOLIDIFIED METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0488132
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably manufacture an excellent metallic molded part, at the time of molding a semisolidified metal in which a liquid phase and a solid phase are coexistent by a die casting machine or the like, by temporarily storing up the semisolidified metal in a container, executing stirring and then feeding the semisolidified metal into a molding apparatus.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of molding a slurried semisolidified metal in which a solid phase and a liquid phase are coexistent by a die casting machine or the like, this semisolidified metal 2 is temporarily stored up in a container 1 made of refractories before it is fed into a die casting machine. If required, stirring is executed by a stirrer 5 of a stirring machine 4 to uniformize the solid phase rate in the semisolidified metal and to form the shape of the crystalline grains into a uniform globular one, and then the semisolidified metal is fed into a die casting machine. The fluidity of the semisolidified metal is improved, and by molding by a die casting machine, a metallic casting of excellent quality can be obtd.
