PURPOSE: To achieve the aging of steelmaking slag in a short term by utilizing the heat generated in an SQ treatment to the aging with steam in the following process.
CONSTITUTION: The high temp. steelmaking slag mechanically crushed into coarse grain is packed into a core vessel in a pressure vessel, and after closing the pressure vessel, cooling water is sprayed from the upper part at 5-30ton/ hr.m2 water spraying density. By increasing the steam pressure in the pressure vessel with the generated steam, the relation between the steam pressure P(Kg/ cm2) and the treating time T(hr) is kept to in the range regulated with the following inequality 3.50≥P0.6×T0.4≥1.48 to execute the aging to the coarsely crushed high temp. slag. In such a way, the crushing is executed by the rapid cooling with the cooling water and the slag expansion by promotion of the hydration reaction. Further, to the slag to which the aging and the crushing have been executed, the two-step treatment with the steam aging is executed by exposing it for ≥12hr in the condition of 80-100°C while heating with the steam.
