Abstract:
To provide a method for treating waste plastics, capable of converting even such waste plastics as to include chlorine-contg. plastics like polyvinyl chloride into gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons virtually free from chlorine.
This method for treating waste plastics comprises as follows: waste plastics are treated by using a pyrolytic unit to form a pyrolyzed distillate oil, which is, in turn, hydrogenated and freed from chlorine into a dechlorinated oil, which is then mixed with a hydrocarbon oil in a petroleum refining plant, thereby affording the objective gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons containing no chlorine from the waste plastics.
