PURPOSE: To increase the efficiency of a catalyst, and to regenerate and renew the catalyst without stopping the operation by aerating the waste water while dispersing a large quantity of the small-sized oxidizing catalyst into the waste water to oxidize the COD component in the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: An aerating device 13 is arranged at the bottom of a treating vessel 11, and a large number of a small-sized oxidizing catalyst 12 is dispersed into a the waste water 15 introduced through an introducing passage 14. The waste water is aerated to oxidize and remove the COD component in the waste water. The waste water 15 after treatment is transferred through the passage 14 into separation tank 16 wherein the catalyst 12 is separated. When said catalyst 12 is lighter than the waste water, the catalyst 12 floats up to the surface of the waste water 15, and the waste water is taken out from the bottom of the separation tank 16. The separated catalyst 12 is regenerated, when desired, and returned to the treating vessel 11, or the new catalyst 12 is added to the treating vessel 11.
