Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely make dimethyl formamide(DMF) harmless by holding the wastewater containing DMF in the presence of alkali in a storage tank to generate dimethyl amine(DMA) and transferring the generated DMA to the vapor phase together with steam.
SOLUTION: The DMF-containing wastewater sent from a wastewater supply tank 1 is fed to a heater 7 at 2 l/h flow rate using a wastewater supply pump 2 to heat it to 80°C, which is then transferred to the first storage tank 19 to hold it in the presence of alkali so that DMA is generated. After that, the wastewater containing DMA is supplied from the tank 19 to the upper part of a reaction distillation column 9 through a second storage tank 20 using a feed pump 21 so that DMA is transferred to the vapor phase together with the steam sent through a steam supply line 11. Thereby, DMF is surely made harmless.
