Title:
TREATMENT OF ZINC LEACHING RESIDUE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3816217
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently, stably and economically separating copper, silver-lead and silica contained in the zinc leaching residue in wet zinc refining.
SOLUTION: When the zinc leaching residue is secondarily leached by the use of sulfur dioxide, the Ag-Pb residue obtained by solid-liq. separation without removing copper is diluted with water to form a pulp contg. 100-200 g (solid)/l. Subsequently, a settling tank, a centrifugal separator or a wet cyclone is used to recover silver-lead as the precipitates and silica as the suspended matter by utilizing the difference in sp.gr. between the constituent particles. Lead-silver and silica are efficiently, stably and economically separated by this method. The pH regulation of the pulp and an agent for flotation are not needed for this process unlike the conventional process (flotation).
