Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a trespasser with high precision without being affected by the lightness of a background or an object present in the background and perform monitoring over a wide range.
SOLUTION: A couple of stereoscopic image are processed by a stereoscopic image processor 20 to calculate a three-dimensional distance distribution over the entire image and then a trespasser detecting device 70 calculates the three- dimensional positions of respective parts of a subject corresponding to information of the distance distribution, and then divides the three-dimensional space to be monitored into plural cubic gratings and extract a cubic grating where the number of data points in the grating exceeds a threshold value as a cubic grating except the cubic grating including an existent object. The data of the cubic grating where it is judged that an object is present are used to judge the kind of the detected object and the object is the same as the last trespasser, the trespasser is traced and recorded while the image pickup position is changed. Consequently, the trespasser can be detected with high precision without being affected by the lightness of the background and the object present in the background and the monitoring is performed over a wide range.
