NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is halogen; R1 and R2 are H or together form condensed benzene ring or condensed naphthalene ring).
EXAMPLE: Tricyclo[4.2.2.25,8]dodeca-1,4-difluoro-6,7,11,12-dibenzo-2,6,9,11-tetraene.
USE: It has stable structure and is decomposed with light to form excited arene, which emits light by returning to the ground state. It can be easily synthesized in high quantum yield and is expected to be useful as a novel raw material of a photosensitive material such as photographic material, recording material, etc., substituting the silver halide material.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by dissolving the cyclic diene compound of formula II and a compound such as anthracene in an organic solvent, irradiating the resultant solution with ultraviolet ray of 250W360nm wavelength in an atmosphere of an inert gas such as N2 gas, and introducing a double bond to the 9, 10 sites of the obtained adduct compound by electrolytic oxidative decarbonation method.
