To obtain a new compound having excellent antimicrobial activities against wide ranges of bacteria, yeasts and fungi, low in toxicity and having preferable properties for environmental problems.
A trihaloallyl derivative of the formula (X is I, Br; Y is a dialkylsulfamoyloxy, benzoylmethyloxy, an alkoxymethyloxy, methylthiomethyloxy, a dialkylcarbamoyloxy, phenylthio, phenylureido). For example, 3-dimethylsulfamoyloxy-1,1,2-triiodo-1-propene. The derivative of the formula is obtained by reacting 2-propyn-1-ol as a raw material with 1 mole of iodine or bromine in the presence of ≥2 moles of an alkali (e.g. sodium methoxide, sodium ethoxide) in a solvent (e.g. an alcohol or a water-containing alcohol) at room temperature, reacting the reaction product with 1 mole of iodine, and subsequently reacting the reaction product with a halogenating agent in the presence of 1-2 mole equiv. of an alkali at room temperature to 80°C.
