Abstract:
To provide a detection device and a detection method in which shearing abnormality and trim chip progress failures in a trimming process of a metal strip are detected accurately at an early stage.SOLUTION: Provided is a device for detecting a trim chip 3 in equipment having a guide 4 for guiding sheared trim chips 3 to a shredding or winding process, in shearing and removing both ends in a width direction of a metal strip 1 across a longer direction of the metal strip using a trimmer 2. The device includes a function in which a non-contact type distance meter 7 is arranged so as to accommodate the whole width direction of the guide 4 from above in a visual field, in order to constantly detect presence/absence of a trim chip 3 in the guide 4 and a height of the trim chip 3 and to determine shearing abnormality of the trimmer 2 or a progress failure of the trim chip 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
