To provide a trimming method and a trimming device capable of reliably preventing any unnecessary portion such as burrs from being left, and omitting a subsequent deburring step.
In the trimming method and the trimming device in which a work W having unnecessary portions B1, B2 such as burrs is placed on a lower die 1, and an upper die 2 with a work holder 3 provided therein is lowered by a hydraulic cylinder 15 to shear the unnecessary portions while holding the work W by the work holder 3, the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic cylinder 15 is detected by a hydraulic pressure sensor 17 during the shearing, and the signal is transmitted to a burr leftover determination device 23. The burr leftover determination device 23 determines presence/absence of leftover of unnecessary portions based on the change in the hydraulic pressure obtained by the hydraulic pressure sensor 17. When burr leftover is determined, the shearing is repeated by elevating/lowering the upper die 2 while holding the work W by the work holder 3 by the urging force of a spring 17.
