To provide a tripod type constant velocity universal joint which is reduced in size and weight while keeping the strength of the root portion.
The tripod type constant velocity universal joint is equipped with an outside joint member having a truck groove axially extending and formed in a circumferential trisected position of the inner periphery and capable of being connected with a first rotary shaft, an inside joint member 5 consisting of a boss 3 capable of being connected with a second rotary shaft and a leg shaft 4 radially projected from the circumferential trisected position of the boss 3, and a roller rotatably attached to each leg shaft 4 through a plurality of needlelike rollers 6 and housed in the truck groove. The radius of curvature of the root portion 8 connecting the boss 3 and strut shaft 4 in a recessed arc shape is gradually reduced from a joint circumferential section A to a joint axial section B of the root portion 8.
