To obtain an ACAT inhibitor having ACAT inhibiting action useful for prevention and therapy of arteriosclerosis such as atherosclerosis, or the like, by including a specific triterpene.
The inhibitor comprises triterpentine compounds of formulas II-V expressed by formula I [R1 and R3-R5 are each a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is an (esterified) carboxyl or a 1-4C alkyl; R6 is absent or H or OH optionally forming an ester with carboxyl group in the molecule; R7 is H, a 1-4C (hydroxy) alkyl or an alkenyl; R8 is an (acylated)hydroxyl; R9 is a 1-4C (hydroxy)alkyl or carboxyl optionally forming an ester with OH group in the molecule; R10 and R11 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 0 or 1; the bonding expressed by a broken line may be present or absent]. The compound of formula V is a new compound.
