This trolley conveyor equipped with the cable type driving device is constituted by attaching a cable gripping device 1 composed of a cable grip body and a body 9 to be operated or the like attached to a right and left swinging member supported with a vertically swinging member to swing in the right and left directions to a front end trolley 21. When the trolley 21 passes through a guide rail 11 for cable releasing operation, the cable gripping device 1 releases a cable to prevent the vertically swinging member and the right and left swinging member from swinging upward to prevent them from interfering with the cable W so that the carrier 20 can be conveyed along the horizontal curve-like path CR with a friction roller type driving device FD. When the trolley 21 passes through a guide rail 12 for cable gripping operation, the vertically swinging member and the right and left swinging member swing downward to bring out a cable grip condition CL in which the cable grip body grips the cable W so that the carrier 20 can be conveyed along a linear path SR with the cable type driving device WD.
