Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a tubular varistor having easily controlled adhesion between electroless plating layers by adjusting eutectic fluororesin content of an electroless plating layer direct on a ceramic substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A sintered object 1 composed mainly of titanium oxide is roughened in its surface, and it is dipped in sensitizer, activator and fluororesin- containing electroless Ni plating solution in sequence, so as to form a first layer 2b of an electroless Ni plating solution that contains fluororesin. The fluororesin content in the solution may vary. After heat-treated in an electric furnace, the sintered object is dipped sequentially in sensitizer, activator, and electroless Ni plating solution that does not contain fluororesin, so as to form a second layer 2a of a fluororesin-free electroless Ni plating solution on the first layer 2b. A solder layer 3 is formed on the second layer by electroplating.
