PURPOSE: To readily control a required position in a restarting by separably constructing a part between a same intervening rotational shaft transmitting rotational force to a looper rotating shaft and a needle rotating shaft and a driving part through a clutch.

CONSTITUTION: A looper bar 13 respectively installing many loopers 11 and needles 12 cooperatively reciprocating in a vertical direction with each other and a needle bar 14 are constructed to be respectively borne by a looper rotating shaft 16 and a needle rotating shaft 17 having a same shaft line O-O' as a center of rotation and the both rotating axes 16 and 17 are connected to an intervening rotation shaft 64 transmitting a rotational force from a driving part 15 through belts 70 and 71 in a synchronously rotatable state, and simultaneously constructed so as to be separable by installing a clutch between said rotation shaft 64 and the driving part 15. In a restarting of tufting, said clutch 72 is operated to separate the connection of the rotation shaft 64 and the driving part 15 and said needle bar 14 is moved to a required position by hand, then the looper bar 13 is displaced in a same angle as the movement of the looper bar.
