Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the title coating material for continuous casting preventing the contamination of steel by SiO2 and capable of removing inclusions in the steel by adding a binder, a thickener, fibers, etc., to a prepd. MgO-CaO compsn. having specified SiO2 and CaO contents and a regulated grain size.
CONSTITUTION: A binder such as sodium phosphate, a thickener such as activated magnesia, fibers, etc., are added to a prepd. MgO-CaO compsn. having ≤5wt.% SiO2 content, ≥30wt.% CaO content and a regulated grain size, e.g. dolomite clinker to obtain a tundish coating material.
