PURPOSE: To form easily hermeically a tundish having an intricate shape and to avert deterioration in the quality of a molten steel owing to the oxidation thereof by installing the tundish for continuous casting having a coil for melting into a hermetic vessel branched with an inlet and outlet, etc. for gas.

CONSTITUTION: A titled tundish consists of installing a vessel 1 formed with a tundish having a coil 4 for melting in a hermetic vessel 8. An air vent pipe 9 and an inert gas supply pipe 10 are branched to said vessel 8 and an extraction port 11 is provided. A continuously casting billet 12 is extracted therefrom. The vessel having an intricate shape is thus made easily hermetic and the deterioration in the quality of the molten steel owing to the oxidation thereof is averted.
