Abstract:

PURPOSE: To restrain the development of pin hole defect in a cast slab caused by absorption of the air in the atmosphere into molten steel at the part of a tundish nozzle device, at the time of executing a continuous casting by supplying the molten steel incorporated in a tundish through the tundish nozzle device at the bottom part thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A seal box 38 surrounding the outside of piling part of fixed plates 32, 34 and a sliding plate 36 for controlling a supplying flow rate of the molten steel 12 into a water cooling mold 18 from the tundish 10 is fitted at the lower surface side of the bottom part 16 of the tundish and further, heat resistant seal material 40 is plugged into a gap at the fitting part between the seal box 38 and the tundish nozzle to close the gap. Further, an inert gas flowing part 42 is arranged in the seal box 38. At the time of executing the continuous casting, the inert gas is flowed with the seal box 38 through this gas flowing part 42 to hold the inner part of the seal box 38 to the inert gas atmosphere.
