Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula WO(OR)4 (R represents alkyl).
EXAMPLE: Tungstenoxy ethoxide.
USE: A compound used for forming an electrochromic display (ECD) membrane of an electrochromic display element, having especially a superior thermal decomposability at ≤300°C, and soluble in an organic solvent.
PREPARATION: A tungsten halie (preferably WCl6) is reacted with an alcohol (preferably 1W10C alcohol) preferably using a solvent mixture of a chlorine based solvent such as carbon tetrachloride with an aromatic solvent such as benzene as a reaction solvent usually at ≤60°C, followed by reaction with a deacidifying agent.
