Abstract:

PURPOSE: To construct a tunnel which requires a vertical high space.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of shield tunnels 10 in which a covering member 11 is formed, is constructed by use of the shield tunneling method to cover the upper part 1a of a tunnel to be constructed, along the extending direction of the vertically long tunnel 1, in the ground. And a working tunnel 20 having a working space 20c forming a part of the tunnel space 1c of the tunnel to be constructed, is excavated under the shield tunnels constructed. In the working tunnel, the ground under the working tunnel is improved in correspondence with the shape of tunnel space to be constructed. The ground under the working tunnel is dug down from the working tunnel to form the tunnel space and a tunnel frame 9 is constructed in the defined tunnel space.
