Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a lightweight turbine blade having excellent mechanical strength against centrifugal force and impact by covering a central core with a plurality of layers of composite material and arranging a network of trans verse seams passing through at least the layers of composite material.
CONSTITUTION: A turbine blade includes a central core 1, a plurality of layers 3 of woven material attached to the outside of the central core 1, and a sleeve 4 of woven composite material covering all the layers 3. The woven composite material of the layer 3 is made of fibers pre-impregnated with resin. The fibers may be organic fibers, ceramic fibers or metal fibers. The combination between basic structures including the central core 1, layer 3 and sleeve 4 is effected by seams 5. In this way, it is possible to obtain a lightweight blade having excellent mechanical strength even when subject to high temperature.
