Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent an increase of clearance and to enhance the turbine efficiency by disposing a member, which consists of ceramic material that is the same as that which is used for turbine rotor or has a similar coefficient of thermal expansion, in an area of housing passage from the turbine shroud to the outlet. CONSTITUTION:The turbine housing 20 is made of ferrous casting, and houses a ceramic radial turbine rotor. In the present embodiment, the turbine housing 20 is provided with a fitting groove 20A which is an annular depression extending from the side of the outlet 5 along the flow passage surface, a positioning groove 20B which extends from afore-said groove partially in the radially outward direction, and an annular groove 20C still closer to the outlet. An annular member 21 is formed by the same ceramic material as that which is used for the turbine rotor or by one which has a similar coefficient of thermal expansion. The annular member 21A is fitted in the fitting groove 20A, and its projecting part 21B to the positioning groove 20B, to form the flow passage surface by the inner surface of the annular member 21A.
