Title:
TURBO-MACHINE AND METHOD OF FEEDING FLUID TO SEAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008014299
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a turbo-machine to prevent lubricating agent from leaking out through a seal.

A housing 12 of a turbo fan engine 10 is provided with a wall 23 and dome 25 demarcating a buffer chamber 33 to receive bleed air of a compressor. Seals 26, 28 including a lubricating side and an air side 30 are disposed between a turbine shaft 16 and the housing 21, and separate a bearing chamber 20 and the buffer chamber 33. A buffer tube 38 is connected to a main body 22 of the buffer chamber 33 via an inlet 36, and contains a flow rate controller 46 such as a venturi tube 50, etc., disposed in an outlet of the tube 38. The tube 38 feeds air from a compressor bleed source 40 into the main body 22, introduces the flow in the tangential direction for an inside surface 24 and generates a swirling flow in the buffer chamber 33. Thereby, the uniformly radial pressure gradient is generated to prevent the lubricating agent from leaking out through the seal in an idling state.
