Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo refrigerator capable of cooling an electric motor by avoiding cavitation of a refrigerant pump even when the load of the refrigerator is substantially zero so as to continue the stable driving of the refrigerator.SOLUTION: A turbo refrigerator comprises: an evaporator 3 exhibiting refrigeration effect by depriving heat from fluid to be cooled so as to vaporize refrigerant; a turbo compressor 1 having a centrifugal impeller and a variable opening vane 14 for adjusting the suction flow rate of refrigerant gas to the impeller, the turbo compressor 1 for compressing the refrigerant gas by the centrifugal impeller; an electric motor 13 for driving the turbo compressor 1; and a condenser 2 for condensing the compressed refrigerant gas by cooling the refrigerant gas with cooling fluid. The turbo refrigerator further comprises: a refrigerant pump 7 for pressure feeding the refrigerant of the condenser 2 to the electric motor 13; an auxiliary refrigerant pump 28 for pressure feeding the refrigerant of the evaporator 3 to the condenser 2; and a control device 30 for operation control of the auxiliary refrigerant pump 28.
