To provide a method and a system for improving the operation of an expander by using a movable inlet guide vane at a compressor inlet.
A turboexpander/compressor system includes: the turboexpander which expands flow-in gas; a first set of the movable inlet guide vane which controls the pressure of the glow-in gas; a compressor which pressurizes gas received from the expander; a shaft which supports and rotates an expander impeller and a compressor impeller; a second set which is attached to the compressor and controls the pressure of gas input into the compressor; and a controller which obtains information on the rotational speed of the shaft, the pressure and a temperature of the flow-in gas, and the pressure and a temperature of gas output by the expander, and maximizes a ratio between the rotational speed of the shaft and the lowering of an enthalpy all over the expander under a design-outside condition.
