PURPOSE: To decrease the minimum turning radius of a forklift, and improve turning performance by constituting steering wheels situated in rear wheel positions of the forklift so as to be movable freely vertically, and driving a turning wheel in the transverse direction while being brought into contact with ground when the steering wheels are moved upward.
CONSTITUTION: Steering wheels 1 are arranged in rear wheel positions to front wheels arranged as driving wheels for a forklift. The steering wheels 1 are connected to both ends of a steering arm 2 formed to be bendable freely vertically from the center, and are constituted so as to be movable freely vertically. At this time, the steering arm 2 is moved compulsorily by means of a turning cylinder 4 arranged above this arm, and slide shafts 6 fixed on a frame 7 are also connected to its slide holes 2A so as to be slidably freely. On the other hand, a turning wheel 3 is moved in the transverse direction while being brought into contact with ground instead of the steering wheels 1, and is also arranged in the central bending part of the steering arm 2. Thereby, the turning wheel 3 can be moved vertically by means of the turning cylinder 4.
