Abstract:

To optimize the vehicle speed when entering a curved road and to improve the stability during the time of a turning travel.

Road information on a curved road ahead of an own vehicle course is detected, and the speed V of the own vehicle is detected. Then, a point at which a tangent Lt which touches an inner side curve LIN of the curved road through a reference point Pv of the own vehicles intersects an outer side curve LOUT of the curved road ahead of the own vehicle course is defined as a tangential direction intersection Pe, and a value a distance De from the reference point Pv to the tangential direction intersection Pe is divided by a vehicle speed V is computed as the tangential direction intersection time Te. Moreover, the own vehicles are decelerated when the tangential direction intersection time Te is shorter than a predetermined threshold value T1. However, the slowdown control is stopped, when road information contains any defect or road information cannot be detected.
