PURPOSE: To secure the effective supporting width of a work largely by a method wherein a pivoting type work supporting member, pivoted in the same plane as the upper surface of a turntable, is provided at both sides of a base, in a turntable type cutter of a miter saw or the like.

CONSTITUTION: A sliding type miter saw 1 is provided with a turntable 2, a base 4 and a cutting edge 10. The base 4 is provided with work putting surfaces 4a, 4b, formed at both sides thereof, and a turntable receiving unit 4c, formed at the center thereof. The turntable 2 is provided with extensions 2a1, 2a2, formed so as to be extended radially, and a cutting edge 10, supported slidably through a holder 16 to a support 14 provided at the opposite sites of the extensions 2a1, 2a2. In this case, pivotable work supporting members 24a, 24b, pivoted in a recess 4d at both sides of the base 4 in the same plane as the upper surface of the turntable 2, are provided whereby the expanding of the effective supporting width of the work is contrived.
