To provide a drill grinding device capable of performing automatic grinding on a drill provided with a pilot cutting edge at the top.
The drill grinding device is provided with an X-axis table 3, a Y-axis table 4, a Z-axis table 6 disposed on the Y-axis table, an index spindle 24 having a function which is disposed horizontally on the Z-axis table and parallel with the X-axis direction and chucks a drill 100, a grinding wheel spindle table 17 which is rotatable horizontally from a position where the table intersects the drill to a predetermined angular position, a grinding wheel spindle motor 21 disposed on the grinding wheel spindle table and a rotary grinding wheel 23 where a periphery and a base end section periphery associated therewith have shapes corresponding to point angles of the drill and the pilot and which is fixed to the rotary spindle of the grinding wheel spindle motor. The drill grinding device is further provided with a control means which controls each table, the index spindle and the abrasive wheel spindle motor to rotate the rotary grinding wheel to swivel the same about the center of the root section in the pilot while allowing the rotary grinding wheel to contact the cutting edges of the drill and the pilot, to simultaneously grind the cutting edge of the drill, that of the pilot and a flank.
