To provide a twist preventer for cord in which power can be supplied to a rotary section without applying any stress to a cord.

The twist preventer for cord comprises a fixed section 14, a rotary section 20 freely turnable forward and reversely about a vertical axis 18, and a ring freely turnable forward and reversely about a vertical axis 18. The ring supports first and second pulleys freely turnable forward and reversely. A first cord 32 wound round the first pulley and extending therefrom in the forward rotational direction is fixed, at one end thereof, to the fixed section and, at the other end thereof, to the rotary section. A second cord 34 wound round the second pulley and extending therefrom in the reverse rotational direction is fixed, at one end thereof, to the fixed section and, at the other end thereof, to the rotary section. Consequently, when the rotary section turns forward or reversely, two pulleys supporting the first and second cords 32. 34 function like dynamic pulleys and the ring moves in the rotational direction thus holding the cord along the ring while preventing from being twisted.
