PURPOSE: To provide a twisted cord made of a resin-impregnated synthetic fiber and having light weight, high durability, excellent mechanical strength such as tensile strength and shear strength, high strength utilization and sufficient flexibility and toughness to enable the winding on a reel.

CONSTITUTION: A fiber bundle consisting of a number of parallelly arranged synthetic fibers is impregnated with a synthetic resin and the product is solidified or hardened to obtain a resin-impregnated synthetic fiber string having a tensile strength of ≥60kg/mm2, an initial tensile modulus of 1-6ton/mm2, a flexural modulus of 0.15-4.0ton/mm2 and a tensile shear stress of ≥2 kg/mm2 and resistant to the shear breakage by a compression shear treatment. The objective twisted cord made of resin-impregnated synthetic fiber is produced by twisting three or more resin-impregnated synthetic fiber strings produced by the above method.
