PURPOSE: Twisted fibers, consisting of synthetic fibers, and having a specific twist pitch and further a feeling closely resembling that of cotton.

CONSTITUTION: Twisted fibers, produced by irradiating one side of plural synthetic fibers of preferably 0.5W2 deniers thickness preferably polyester fibers, with small spots of processing laser beams, e.g. gaseous carbon dioxide laser beams, in the form of pulses while running the plural synthetic fibers in parallel, stretching the irradiated synthetic fibers at about 5W10%, and heat-treating the stretched synthetic fibers under relaxed conditions, and having twists of ≤1mm, preferably 0.5W0.1mm twist pitch.
