Title:
TWO-CHAMBER TYPE ARC FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2983413
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of arc heat transfer to molten steel and reduce the heat load on water-cooled panels of a furnace wall by a method wherein an electrode supporting mechanism is tiltable synchronously with one of arc furnaces and either of the furnaces can be chosen to make it synchronize.
CONSTITUTION: When melting takes place in a furnace A, a fixing pin 16 is inserted into a fixing pin hole 18 drilled in a mast receptacle stand 15, so that the furnace A and a movable electrode 6 are inclined together as one body and the amount of slug 25 to be discharged from a slug outlet is regulated. At this time, a duct 8a attached to the furnace A and a duct 8c attached to the mast receptacle stand 15 are also inclined together and the duct 8c and a duct 8b attached to a furnace B slide relatively to each other. However, the width of a flange of the duct c is designed large enough to send high- temperature exhaust gas generated from the furnace A to the furnace B via the ducts 8a-8c attached to furnace covers 4 to preheat scrap in the furnace B. Thereby, the efficiency of heat transfer to molten steel is improved and the heat load on water-cooled panels of a furnace side wall can be reduced.
