Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the high-temp. stability, shelf stability and adhesion of the subject composition by incorporating a specified urethane prepolymer component and a curing component.
CONSTITUTION: The urethane prepolymer component (A) is obtd. by reacting a prim. hydroxyl-ended intermediate having an average mol.wt. of 40.0 to 10,000 with a polyisocyanate of the formula: R(NCO)n (wherein R is a 2-20C aliph. group or 6 to 20C arom. group including an alkyl-substituted arom. group; and n is 2 to 4) in an equivalent ratio (NCO/OH) of 2.0 or higher. The component (A) is blended with (B) a curing component comprising a nitrogen-free polyol curing agent, a prim. polyamine, a trimerization catalyst and 0.05 to 7.5 wt.%, based on the total wt. of the curing component and the prepolymer component, of a phosphorus adhesive in such amts. that the equivalent ratio of free NCO groups to curing OH groups and NH groups in the component (B) is at least 1.2.
