Abstract:

PURPOSE: To always scavenge at proper timing to increase output by providing a weight which is closely fitted slidably into a cylindrical hollow part formed inside a valve stem to assist the opening operation of a scavenging valve and relieve a shock on the scavenging valve at its seating on a valve seat.
CONSTITUTION: A weight 18 extending to the lower side of a valve stem oil hole 17 is provided movably in vertical direction in the hollow part 14 of a valve stem 9, the weight 18 are slid with their upper and lower ends made in contact with the hollow part 14, the intermediate part of the weight 18 is slightly small in diameter, and there exists a clearance 19 between the weight 18 and the hollow part 14. A vertical oil hole 20 is passed through the center of the weight 18 in axial direction, and a horizontal oil hole 21 is drilled at the middle of the vertical oil hole 20 to connect the vertical oil hole 20 to the clearance 19. Then a check valve 22 which opens downward is installed at the lower end of the vertical oil hole 20. Thus, when a piston 2 reaches an upper dead center, an inertia force in upward direction is exerted on the weight 18 to open the check valve 22 for scavenging at proper timing.
