To provide a two-dimensional code reader with which the read results of a two-dimensional code and a bar code can be used for a common system.

A serial port 24 for code information input is provided for connecting a bar code reader to a decode part 22 of a fixed two-dimensional code reader 20. When a two-dimensional code 100 is measured by an image pickup part 21 of the two-dimensional code reader 20, code information outputted from a two-dimensional data decode means 5 is stored in an output buffer 6. When the bar code is measured by the bar code reader connected to the serial port 24 for code information input, bar code information inputted from the bar code reader to the serial port 24 for code information input is stored in the output buffer 6. The code information or the bar code information stored in the output buffer 6 is outputted from a serial port 25 for code information output to external equipment.
