PURPOSE: To permit the granulating work or powder and granular material with a high speed under heating by a method wherein a throat, having a substantially rectangular section and whose capacity is changeable by changing the length of the furnace body, is provided continuously to the lower end of the furnace body having a substantially rectangular section.
CONSTITUTION: When powder and granular raw material is thrown into a moving layer section 30 through a material throwing port 16, the raw material is descended while forming a moving layer gradually while the descended powder and granules are rolled into a jet stream layer section 28 by hot-air blown out of a throat 22 in the lower rolling section 32 of the lower end of a partitioning plate 26. A hot spot in jet stream condition is formed in combustion gas from a burner 21 and hot-air from a throat 22 in the jet stream layer 28 and the powder and granules, rolled into the hot spot, are ascended through a jet stream layer under the condition of jet stream while being granuled by the hot self-granulation of aggregated bodies of granules of the melting of powder and granules adhered to the surroundings of grains, then, the powder and granules are dropped on a moving layer section 30 and granules, whose sizes are increased, are extracted through a granuled products extracting port 18.
